Kaiya Wynn’s parents and siblings created a competitive and supportive family that shaped her basketball journey.
As a guard for the Tennessee Lady Vols, Kaiya Monét Wynn had a great basketball career.
She was born on May 23, 2003, in Memphis, Tennessee. She was a highly sought-after five-star prospect when she got to Rocky Top.
Blue Star ranked her No. 39 overall, and in 2021, she was named Texas 5A Player of the Year.
She didn’t waste any time making an impact. She scored an average of 8.2 points and 2.0 rebounds per game as a freshman and got her first double-double against ETSU.
She got better every season, and her junior year (2023-24) was her best as a Lady Vol.
She played in all 33 games, averaged 4.4 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.6 assists off the bench, and set career highs in almost every statistical category, including a career-high 13 points against Mississippi State.
Wynn’s senior year in 2024–25 came to an abrupt end when she tore her right Achilles tendon, which kept her out for the whole year.
She came back as a redshirt senior in 2025-26, though, and in her first 10 minutes of play against ETSU, she scored three points, grabbed two rebounds, assisted on a basket, and stole the ball.
Wynn was on the SEC Academic Honor Roll several times, was a student-athlete representative on UT’s SAAC, went on a service trip to South Africa and Botswana with the VOLeaders Academy, and got her bachelor’s degree in kinesiology before going on to get her master’s degree in sport management.
Her journey shows not only her athletic ability but also the values her loving family taught her.
Kaiya Wynn’s Parents Donald and Kenyetta “K.K.” Wynn Shape Her Success
Donald and Kenyetta “K.K.” Wynn form the backbone of Kaiya’s development, providing her with both athletic training and a strong moral foundation.
The couple met in Huntsville, Alabama, and together they built a household where accountability, hard work, and a love of sport shape every child’s upbringing.
Donald Wynn played college basketball at the University of Alabama in Huntsville and earned the prestigious title of Mr. Basketball in Alabama in 1995, also taking home MVP honors for his state championship team.
He served as her primary trainer and father-coach, building a close bond around the game they both love.
“He and Kaiya chat a lot about what it means to be a state champ,” K.K. Wynn has noted, a conversation that carries particular weight given that Kaiya herself went on to win multiple state titles.
Professionally, Donald holds a degree in software development and works as an IT project manager.
He and K.K. also co-founded the Enplay Foundation, a nonprofit designed to empower children through play.
“My background is basketball and K.K.’s is education, so we married the two because you can’t have one without the other,” Donald explained.
“My passion is coaching and playing. When I grew up, I had so many people important to me, and I vowed if I ever had the opportunity to do that, I would pay it forward.”
His approach to recruiting mirrored that long-term philosophy: when Kaiya was deciding on a college, Donald reminded her that she was making a 40-year decision, not just a four-year one.
He pushed her to find the place that would allow her to maximize her strengths and reach her goals well beyond basketball.

Kenyetta Wynn, known by the family as K.K., brings a rich background of athleticism, education, and resilience to her role as a parent.
Born at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas, she comes from a military family — both her father and stepfather served in the U.S. Army. She spent 10 years of her childhood living in Germany before her family relocated back to the United States.
K.K. played basketball and volleyball in high school at Waynesville High School in Waynesville, Missouri, and later at J.O. Johnson High School in Huntsville, Alabama, earning offers from small colleges to play basketball.
However, a torn ACL during her senior year ended her playing career.
Rather than letting that setback define her, K.K. turned to academics, ultimately graduating from Vanderbilt University.
She now works as an educator and describes herself as a mother, wife, teacher, entrepreneur, and change agent.
Her emphasis on academic excellence and character development runs throughout how the Wynn household operates.
She played an active role in Kaiya’s recruitment and development, pushing back on the idea that social media fame matters more than internal growth.
“Kaiya didn’t want to have a huge social media following,” K.K. said.
“She felt like her focus should be on the game and her love of the game and getting better.”
K.K. also co-founded the Enplay Foundation alongside Donald, and the family has a studio that serves as another creative outlet for their shared ventures.
As a parent, K.K. takes a thoughtful and communicative approach to raising her children.
She describes how the family holds each child accountable while making sure they understand the reasoning behind expectations.
She credits those conversations with instilling the coachable attitude that made Kaiya so attractive to college programs across the country.
“She’s a helper at home. She taught herself to cook. She cooks for the entire family,” K.K. noted.
Kaiya Wynn Grew Up With Athletic Siblings
Kaiya grew up alongside three siblings — two older brothers and a younger sister — in a household where sports, competition, and teamwork interweave with daily life.
The family’s athletic culture runs deep, and Kaiya credits her siblings with sharpening her competitive edge from a very early age.

Dante Wynn is the older of Kaiya’s two brothers and signed to play football at the U.S. Air Force Academy, blending athletic achievement with a commitment to military service.
Born on July 26, Dante embodies the same competitive drive that runs through the entire Wynn family.
Growing up, he and Kaiya played constantly against each other, with Kaiya pushing herself hard to keep up and ultimately beat him.
“I always wanted to beat them in everything. It didn’t matter if it was basketball or any other sport or a race, I wanted to beat them. It pushed me a lot, and they still push me today,” Kaiya has said.
The siblings even played two-on-two as recently as December 2020, a game that Kaiya and her younger sister Kimora won — though Dante, predictably, had excuses at the ready. “They sound like excuse machines,” Kaiya said with a laugh.
Dominic Wynn (Younger Brother)
Dominic Wynn is Kaiya’s younger brother, born on April 29 — a date that holds special significance in the family, as Kaiya chose to announce her commitment to Tennessee on his 18th birthday in 2020.
After completing high school, Dominic enrolled at the University of Virginia, continuing the family’s tradition of competing at the college level.
Like Dante, Dominic contributed to the competitive environment that pushed Kaiya to raise her game.
Having two older brothers close in age meant that Kaiya never lacked for tough competition at home, and those early matchups built the tenacity and toughness she would carry onto the court at Rocky Top.
Kimora Wynn (Younger Sister)
Kimora Wynn is the youngest of the four siblings, born on May 3 — just weeks before Kaiya’s own birthday on May 23, making spring a busy celebration season for the Wynn family.
Kaiya has spoken warmly about watching Kimora grow up and has drawn parallels between her youngest sibling’s development and her own journey at a young age.
Even as a 7-year-old, Kimora already showed the family’s competitive spirit, teaming up with Kaiya in their two-on-two matchup against the brothers and coming away with a win.
K.K. noted that Kaiya actively helps with Kimora at home — doing her hair, looking out for her, and modeling the kind of caring and responsibility the family values.
“She will do her sister’s hair. Whatever you need Kaiya to do, she does it,” K.K. said.
Together, Donald, K.K., Dante, Dominic, and Kimora form the close-knit support system that shaped Kaiya Wynn into the athlete and person she is today.
