After four years of dating, Jonathan Greenard proposed to his wife, Altagracia, during a surprise family brunch in Miami.
Jonathan Greenard has had an amazing career as one of the NFL’s most versatile edge rushers.
Greenard was born on May 25, 1997, in Hiram, Georgia. He did well in both football and basketball at Hiram High School.
In his senior year, he was named the 5-A regional defensive player of the year.
He signed with the University of Louisville as a three-star recruit and made an immediate impact as a redshirt freshman, recording 22 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and a pick-six.
Greenard had a good start, but during his redshirt junior season, he dislocated his wrist and missed the whole year.
He was determined to get back on track, so he took extra classes to graduate early and moved to the University of Florida as a graduate student in January 2019.
He had one of the best single seasons of his college career at Florida, with 52 tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, and an interception.
The Houston Texans picked Greenard in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft, which was the 90th pick overall.
He signed a four-year deal and played his first NFL game in October 2020. Greenard signed a historic four-year, $76 million deal with the Minnesota Vikings on March 13, 2024, after spending several seasons with the Houston Texans.
He didn’t waste any time showing how good he was. In Week 3 of the 2024 season, he had three sacks and four tackles in a big win over his old team, the Houston Texans, which earned him the NFC Defensive Player of the Week award.
Jonathan Greenard And His Wife Altagracia Celebrate Love And Family
Altagracia Greenard (née Marte), Jonathan Greenard’s wife, is the perfect match for his energy on the field. Altagracia is a teacher, and she brings warmth, creativity, and a lively spirit to their family.
Jonathan and Altagracia’s love story started at the University of Florida in February 2019, not long after Greenard moved there.
Alta was taking pictures with her best friend for fun when Jonathan suddenly walked into one of them.
Jonathan wanted to take their relationship to the next level after four years of dating.
While he was training with the Minnesota Vikings, he went to Miami, Alta’s hometown, and organized a surprise Sunday brunch for both families.
Jonathan got down on one knee in front of his family and friends and asked his girlfriend to marry him. This was the start of a beautiful new chapter in their lives.
Jonathan and Altagracia got married on April 20, 2024, in a beautiful spring ceremony at Foxhall Resort in Douglassville, Georgia.
The couple chose the location because it had a cozy country feel, beautiful natural views, and could hold about 190 guests for the whole weekend.
They based their wedding on the popular TV show Bridgerton and used a soft color scheme of blush, peach, and yellow.
They even included physical color swatches in their invitations so guests could dress in theme.
The ceremony took place on the resort’s beautiful lawn, which was surrounded by rolling hills and trees.
A broken flower arch held up the altar, and the aisles were lined with petals made the place feel magical.
Jonathan shocked Alta by hiring singer Peter Collins to play live music, like Sabrina Claudio’s “Frozen,” while she walked down the aisle.
The couple wrote their own vows, which included the story of how they met and important Bible verses. This made the ceremony very personal.
Inside, the reception kept the Bridgerton theme going with chandeliers, lots of plants, candles, and flowers around a stone fireplace.
Guests enjoyed signature drinks like a strawberry margarita for Alta and a tequila soda with cranberry for Jonathan.
They also celebrated over dinner, which included red snapper roulade and honey dijon chicken.
A Waffle House bar open late at night added a fun, personal touch. Jonathan and Altagracia danced to “While We’re Young” by Jhene Aiko for their first dance as a married couple.
Jonathan and Altagracia are proud parents of two kids and call themselves a “party of four.”
Their daughter, who was a toddler at the time of the wedding in early 2026, was in pictures taken after the ceremony.
Their son, Jaxen, was born in late January 2026. Jonathan shared the happy news on Instagram Stories, saying, “I forgot to tell you all that Baby Jaxen came last weekend. We’re now a party of four.” Mama bear is doing well. “Thank you, Jesus, for another one.“
Altagracia proudly identifies herself as a “wife & mom” on her Instagram, regularly sharing glimpses of family life, from holiday posts to everyday moments.
The couple has also been on Twin Cities Live together, which shows how well they balance Jonathan’s high-profile NFL career with their growing family.
