Trick Williams and Booker T are two of WWE’s most prominent Black wrestlers, and fans often wonder whether the two share a family connection. The short answer is no — Trick Williams and Booker T are not related.
Booker T. Huffman Jr., born on March 1, 1965, to his parents Booker Huffman Sr. and mother in Plain Dealing, Louisiana, built one of the most decorated careers in professional wrestling history.
He competed across WCW, WWF/WWE, and TNA, accumulating 35 championships along the way.
WWE inducted him into its Hall of Fame in 2013, and again in 2019 alongside his brother Stevie Ray as Harlem Heat.
Today, he serves as a color commentator on WWE’s NXT brand.
Booker T’s real family connections in wrestling run deep. His brother, Lash “Stevie Ray” Huffman, was his long-time tag team partner in the legendary Harlem Heat duo.
Their brotherly bond was central to both their careers and their personal lives — Stevie Ray inducted Booker T into the Hall of Fame in 2013.
Trick Williams, born Matrick Mondre Belton on May 26, 1994 in South Carolina to parents Monica and Patrick Belton, followed a different path to WWE.
He played college football before transitioning to professional wrestling in 2018, training in Philadelphia with his uncle — a family member who clearly influenced him, as Williams named his early character “Sweet Daddy Trick” after his uncle’s nickname.
Williams signed with WWE in February 2021 and has since become a two-time NXT Champion, a one-time NXT North American Champion, and a former TNA World Champion. He currently performs on the SmackDown brand.
There are probably a few reasons why people are speculating.
Both of these guys are Black wrestlers who became well-known in WWE’s NXT brand.
Booker T is now a commentator on NXT, which means that the two are on-screen together a lot.
Additionally, both men carry a natural charisma and confidence that draws comparisons. Some fans also note stylistic similarities in their in-ring presence.
Booker T has praised Trick Williams in public many times, saying good things about his potential and star power.
That kind of mentor-mentee relationship can easily lead to rumors of a deeper connection, but respect and praise don’t mean family.
The records are clear. Booker T’s family in wrestling is his brother Stevie Ray, and Trick Williams trained under his own uncle before signing with WWE.
The two men share no known familial relationship. What they do share is a connection to WWE’s NXT brand, a magnetic on-screen presence, and the admiration of wrestling fans who recognize talent when they see it.
